Welcome!

Welcome to erinelizabeth.co.uk – my cozy digital nook where I  document recipes I love, books I’m reading and keep an online diary of sorts for home hacks and crafts I’ve learned and love,  in general it’s a bit of everything!  I’m Erin, a mum of two who found solace in nurturing a more relaxed and mindful lifestyle. Through my blog, I aim to provide value in the form of delicious recipes, brutally honest book reviews and general fantasy/romance book chit-chat, along with sharing what I hope are helpful tips and inspiration for those who, like me, are interested in rediscovering the beauty in life’s simplest moments.

Fun Facts About Me

I’ve taken a huge interest in gardening since we renovated our garden in 2022. Growing most of it’s contents from seed, we managed to cultivate a little floral haven for the bee’s and birds. While I’m absolutely still a gardening novice with much to discover, it has been such an enjoyable journey learning, all the while getting to teach my children, who are great little helpers in the garden!

Somewhere between an eagerness to learn new things and being a bit of a control freak! If there’s a way to do it myself, I’m always keen to try!  I’ve recently started to enjoy creating my own all-natural skincare products and cleaning solutions. You might also catch me rolling up my sleeves to tackle home repairs and chasing the satisfaction of giving new life to old items. I’ve realised I like to live by the motto “everything is figureoutable” simply because it provides a challenge, opportunity to learn and grow, and sheer satisfaction to know “I just did that!”. It’s not just about the cost savings; It’s a small but impactful step towards sustainable living too! I try to live by the 6 R’s

Circling back to DIY skincare and cleaning solutions, I’m on a bit of a journey to live as “non-toxic” a life as possible. In a world where phthalates, parabens and endocrine disruptors are in more household items than not, I want to protect the wellbeing of my family and planet while also sharing what I’ve learnt along the way.  Exploring alternatives that steer clear of harmful chemicals.  I have a blog post on how I got started with non-toxic living here.

Having lived in both countryside and busy towns/cities, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the tranquility and beauty of nature.  I thrive on spending time outside, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the countryside. There’s something incredibly rejuvenating about leaving the noise and chaos of busy areas for the countryside – the air is fresher, the pace is slower, and the landscape is filled with natural beauty!

Since entering my “countryside granny” era as I like to call it, I’ve come to realise I have a love of  vintage, especially kitchen equipment. Stoneware mixing bowls, and various traditional kitchen tools. As I’ve taken on more traditional cooking  methods like making fresh pasta, homemade butter and sourdough bread, it only makes sense that I now gravitate to tools that matches this style of crafting delicious delights.

Baking my own sourdough bread (among other sourdough goods) is something I see as more than just a kitchen task; It’s a therapeutic ritual that brings a lot of joy to our home. I’m always keen to try out slow living hobbies , I even know how to knit!

About Erin Elizabeth's Cottage Crafts

This is my shop, I craft whimsical treasures inspired by the beauty of  nature and the simplicity of idylic country/cottage living. From my vintage teacup candles, scented with only pure essential oils, to charming bookmarks adorned with dried pressed flowers, each piece is lovingly handcrafted with eco-friendly materials and a touch of rustic charm.  My aim is to bring a piece of  rustic, cottage-core beauty into your home while promoting sustainability and creativity. You can find all of these on my Etsy shop linked below!

I haven’t always enjoyed cooking, it was only once I had children and started really caring about what was in the food we eat everyday that I gradually started spending more time developing my own recipes.  When you cook at home you know exactly what your family are eating.
